My to-do list was sitting on the table and one of the items said something like,
“Do such-and-such, etc.”
Soren saw it and asked, “Mom, what does e-t-c mean? Does it mean eat the cookies?”
No Soren, it doesn’t.
But it should.

Soren came home from school today and announced,
“Mom, if you want to know all about animals, just ask a vegetarian.”
Vegetarian. Veterinarian. What’s the difference? Most animals would probably prefer to hang out with a vegetarian anyway.

A conversation between Soren (at age 4) and me, Thanksgiving 2007:
“Mom, is that the pumpkin pie?”
“Yes.”
“Well, I hate it!”
“Hey, you don’t have to eat it, but don’t say mean things about it when I made it.”
(Very sweetly) “Well Mom, your pies look pretty. But they’re yucky!”
